The Reeths-Puffer girls soccer team opened Division 2 district tournament play on a positive note, beating Coopersville 3-1 on Thursday.

The Rockets, who struggled for much of the regular season, have now won four straight games.

The Rockets went up 2-0 when Mallorie Messer scored after taking a nice pass from Ashley Bradley with about 10 minutes left in the first half.

Coopersville broke the shutout on a long free kick about 10 minutes into the second half, then the Rockets finished off the scoring about seven minutes later when Messer cashed in on a penalty kick.

Reeths-Puffer had a 19-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 12-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Rockets, now 7-12, will face Spring Lake (9-6-2) in the semifinals on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
