The Reeths-Puffer boys golf team had a challenging warmup for the conference finals and regionals on Monday, competing in the Tom Wilson Invitational, hosted by Mona Shores, at the Muskegon Country Club.
The Rockets were not at their best, shooting a team score of 361 and placing 14th out of 19 teams. Mona Shores won with a score of 315.
Junior Kristian Brown once again led the Rockets with a score of 83. He was very strong at times, shooting birdies on four holes.
Aiden Waggoner shot an 88, followed by Kye Grant (94), Ayden Hartzell (96) and Tristan Baker (104).
“It was good to see Kristian making birdies," said R-P Coach Matt Pallett. "He was kind of up and down today, but the fact that he was finally making some birdies shows that he is close to putting a really great round together.
“I enjoy playing in events with good competition. It lets us know where we are. We need to continue to get better, as our regional will be really tough. Congrats to Mona Shores and Coach Volkmann on their win today."
The Rockets will compete in the O-K Green Championship Tournament on Thursday.
