The Reeths-Puffer softball team split a doubleheader with Jenison on Tuesday evening, losing the opener 1-0, but rebounding in Game 2 with a 4-2 victory.

The Rockets' two great pitchers reached milestones during the doubleheader. Senior Mady Snyder recorded the 300th strikeout of her career while junior Lainey McDaniel reached the 400 mark..

With the split, the Rockets are now 16-6 overall and in third place in the O-K Green conference standings with a 7-4 mark.

Despite losing Game 1, R-P pitcher Lainey McDaniel tossed a gem, striking out 11 while surrendering just two hits and one unearned run.

The game was 0-0 until the top of the sixth when Jenison scored the lone run of the game on a sacrifice fly.

In Game 2, the Rockets struck first in the second inning when an RBI groundout by Brook Buchan produced two runs.

Mady Snyder hit into an RBI fielders choice in third inning, then Bilek added an RBI single to give the Rockets a 4-0 lead.

McDaniel pitched the first three innings, striking out three without surrendering a run.

Snyder came on in relief, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two.

Olivia Ambler paced the R-P offense with two hits.

The Rockets will complete the series at Jenison on Thursday.
