At 18-3, the Byron Center baseball team is a daunting opponent for anyone.
The Reeths-Puffer baseball team learned a lot about its powerful new O-K Green conference rival on Tuesday night, dropping both ends of a doubleheader to the Bulldogs at R-P's Pete Sodini Field.
The Rockets lost the opener 5-0. Colton Bessinger took the loss on the mound for R-P, despite pitching pretty well. He threw a complete game while scattering seven hits, striking out four and walking three.
Brayden Mitchelson, Conner McManus and Quinn Alderink each had one hit for Reeths-Puffer.
Colton Bessinger, who pitched a complete game in the opener and had a hit in Game 2.
The Rockets fell 12-0 in the nightcap.
Brenden Guikema took the loss while striking out three and walking one in 4 2/3 innings.
Bessinger and Ethan Frang had the only hits for R-P.
The Rockets are now 4-8 on the season. They will visit Byron Center for the final game of the series on Thursday.
