The Reeths-Puffer baseball team broke a three-game losing streak on Saturday with a victory in the first round of the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament.

The Rockets beat Oakridge 4-2.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Rockets tied the game at 2-2, then scored two more in the seventh inning to complete the comeback.

Brenden Guikema, Jack Yonkman, Cade Paugh, Conner McManus, Holden Earnest and Quinn Alderink each had one hit for R-P while Yonkman and McManus both knocked in a run.

Drew Brooks was the winning pitcher, giving up no earned runs and scattering seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

The Rockets nearly made it two wins in a row on the same day, and almost made the tournament finals, but lost an early lead and fell to North Muskegon 5-3 in the semifinals.

R-P took a 3-0 lead in the second inning when Lukas Johnson drew a bases loaded walk and Brayden Mitchelson and Cade Paugh added RBI singles.

North Muskegon stole the win with four runs in the sixth inning. One run scored on a bases-loaded walk, two runs scored on a Rocket error, and another scored on a single.

Mitchelson pitched, striking out seven and walking two.

The Rockets, now 4-6 on the season, will host Byron Center in a conference doubleheader on Tuesday.
