Mallorie Messer exploded for four goals and two assists on Saturday to lead the Reeths-Puffer girls soccer team to an impressive 8-0 victory over Whitehall.

Messer had six goals and four assists last week.

The victory provided a big boost for the Rockets, who have struggled throughout the season, but have now won two of their last three games by big margins.

Reeths-Puffer is now 3-10 on the season. The Rockets will host rival Mona Shores on Tuesday in a rematch, after falling in a tough 2-1 game last month.

Jaslynn Kops added two goals for Reeths-Puffer while Ashley Bradley had one. Ashlyn David had two assists while both Kiera Ketner and Emmarie Siembeda had one.

Goalkeeper Sara Carlson made a pair of saves while Kira DeMol had one save in the second half.

The Rockets outshot the Vikings 18-3 and had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

"Really proud of our girls' focus level Saturday," said R-P head coach Kody Harrell. "They came in with a pace of play about them, and I felt like there was a lot of purpose and creativity out on the field. Hopefully this is the confidence booster that we needed, going into a tough stretch this week, with Shores Tuesday, Byron Center on Thursday and Fruitport Saturday."

R-P also had an easy time with Muskegon last week, downing the Big Reds 10-0 in an O-K Green conference matchup.

Messer and Abby Hill each had two goals in that win. David, Kops, Chloe Brainard, Gracie Callender, Maddilynn Dyer and Hanna Potts each added one.

Messer was the assist leader with two.

The only blemish on the Rockets' record last week came in a 5-0 loss to Caledonia.
