The developing Reeths-Puffer lacrosse team will go into the week with some newfound confidence after picking up its second victory of the season last week.
The Rockets won a thriller, scoring two goals in the final 90 seconds to beat Northview 10-9.
R-P's Ian Wright scoring the tying goal with 1:30 remaining in the game, then Cohen Beck scored the game-winner with 25 seconds left.
It was a complete turnround from the first time the two teams played in March, when Northview won 9-8 after scoring the winning goal with four seconds left.
Cohen Beck
Beck finished with four goals for R-P, including two in the fourth quarter. Wright finished with three goals and two assists, Owen Greiner had two goals and one assist while Braeden Monette recorded one goal and one assist.
The Rockets led 2-1 after one quarter. Northview led 5-2 at halftime and 7-6 after three, leading up to the wild fourth quarter.
"We played great this game, and it was awesome seeing our guys come out with an exciting and gritty win," said R-P Coach Josh Robidoux. "This was a game where our offense was dodging and passing the ball well, and our defense was communicating with one another effectively. Our transitions looked a lot smoother today and we stifled a lot of Northview's attempts at clearing the ball from defense to offense.
"I'm glad the guys took to heart what we practiced this week and took steps toward being the team we know they can be."
Ian Wright
The Rockets did not fare as well on Saturday, falling to Grand Rapids Christian 13-3.
Wright scored two goals for R-P, Monette scored one. Greiner and Jack Bahorski had assists.
The Rockets, now 2-9 on the season, will visit Grand Haven on Tuesday, then will host East Kentwood, a team they have beaten this year, on Thursday.
