The Reeths-Puffer golf team had a big challenge and responded well on Friday and Saturday.

The Rockets traveled north to compete in the two-day Traverse City Invitational at Crystal Mountain. They finished with a two-day score of 688 and placed 16th out of 32 teams.

Kristian Brown and Ayden Waggoner both shot a 79 on Friday to lead R-P. Aiden Hartzell shot a 90, followed by Jamie Neel (92), Kaeden Benner (97) and Kye Grant (99).

Brown led the team with a 78 score on Saturday. Waggoner shot an 83, followed by Neel (90), Grant (98), Tristan Baker (101) and Carter Hekkema (124)

Brown finished in 18th place out of 180 golfers. Waggoner finished in 33rd place.

“Each guy that played both rounds this year and last year improved their overall scores," said R-P Coach Matt Pallett. "Ayden Waggoner improved by 18 strokes. Kristian Brown improved his score from last year by 26 strokes. Jamie Neel improved his score by 31 strokes. All three have worked hard on their games.

“Kristian played some real solid golf this weekend. He is not firing on all cylinders yet, but really hit a number of quality golf shots.

“It was a fun two days and it is always good to see where the team stacks up against good competition on tough courses. This weekend will make us better. The guys are hungry to get better."

The Rockets will compete oi the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tournament on Monday at Muskegon Country Club.
