With the season starting to wind down, the Reeths-Puffer volleyball team is obviously starting to look at the girls who will be returning and playing major roles next fall.

Two quality juniors the team will obviously count on in 2025 are middle hitter Makalya Disselkoen and libero Carlee Bowen, who both showed off their skills on Tuesday in an O-K Green conference match at Byron Center.

Disselkoen recorded five kills and seven blocks and Bowen had nine digs for the Rockets, who lost to the powerful Bulldogs 3-0. The set scores were 11-25, 10-25, 15-25.

“Makalya had a good night for us,” said R-P Coach Justin Birr. “She continues to improve in the middle, especially with running different offensive plays. Carlee had a few very impressive digs that helped keep us in rallies.”

“Overall, our defense played pretty well, but we could not get in a rhythm offensively. Credit to Byron Center and their coaching staff for having a very disciplined defense that made great reads and were always in the right spot defensively.”

The Rockets are now 10-20 overall and 1-7 in conference play. They will take the court again on Thursday night when they visit Jenison.
