The Reeths-Puffer girls tennis team wasn’t too upset about posting a 1-2 record at Saturday’s Grand Haven Invitational, considering the fact that they were missing several important players who were on a trip with the school choir.

R-P started the day with an impressive 6-2 victory over Whitehall, a traditional tennis power.

The Rockets split the singles matches, with Brooke Titus (No. 1 singles) and Olivia Harris (No. 2) both winning their matches in straight sets.

They pulled away by sweeping all four doubles matches in straight sets.

Emma Fraser and Hope Latsch (No. 1 doubles), Malania Eilers and Mikey Neel (No. 2), Gabrielle Borgeson and Ava Dietz (No. 3) and Maddie Hutchinson and Elana Weiden (No. 4) all won their matches with ease.

The Rockets did not fare so well in their other two matches, falling 5-4 to O-K Green conference opponent Zeeland East and 7-1 to Grand haven.

Titus and Harris both collected wins against ZE in the top singles spots, but the Rockets lost the other two singles matches.

In doubles, R-P collected victories from Maddie Hutchinson and Elana Weiden, who overcame a first set loss to win at No. 3, along with Makayla Smith and Avery Luna, who had to go three sets to win at No. 5.

Against Grand Haven, R-P’s only victory was posted by Harris at No. 2 singles. She is now 7-1 on the season.
