The Reeths-Puffer girls track team is making some real progress.

Last year, for instance, the Rockets lost a dual meet with O-K Green conference rival Mona Shores by 19 points.

On Wednesday they fell short against the Sailors again, but only by six points, with a final 71-65 score.

The Rockets also lost to Muskegon 76-50 in the three-team conference event.

Several individuals and relay teams performed extremely well for Reeths-Puffer.rR-P's Jersi Bilek, who won the 800-meter run and helped win the 800-meter relay.

Taking first place against opponents from both Mona Shores and Muskegon were Jersi Bilek in the 800-meter run (2:30.72), Adrienne Fluette in the 1,600-meter run (6:10.89), Gabrielle Chevez in the 3,200-meter run (13:34.26), and the 800-meter relay team of Sophia McCollom, Fluette, Bilek and Darcy Keefe (11:16.55).

Finishing second for R-P were Brooklynn Tornes in the 100-meter dash, Chevez in the 1,600-meter run, Charli Belinger in the 3,200-meter run, Madilynn Smith in the 100-meter hurdles, Sophia Wathen in discus and Isabella Smith in the pole vault.

Two relay teams also finished second – the 200-meter team (Melana Johnson, Madilynn Smith, Amani Starr and Savanna Lockwood) and the 400-meter team (Keefe, McCollum, Fluette and Kamari Walker).

Taking third for the Rockets were Johnson in the 100-meter dash, Tornes in the 200-meter dash, Ma’Kaia Riley-McGuffey in the 300-meter dash and McCollum in the 800-meter run.
