The Reeths-Puffer boys track team struggled in its first conference meet of the season on Wednesday, falling to Mona Shores and Muskegon.

The Rockets fell to Mona Shores 94-29 and Muskegon 82-32.

But R-P did have a number of athletes who finished high in the combined results against both Mona Shores and Muskegon.

The sole event winner for the Rockets was Dylan Sturr, who ran away with first place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:40.27.

Finishing second for Reeths-Puffer was London Rankin (100-meter dash), Marvin Moore (200-meter dash), Caiden Bolduc (400-meter dash) and the 800-meter relay team of Sturr, Tate Bradley, Matthew Grimard and Alfonso Gomez.

Taking third place were Nate Darling in the 3,200-meter run, Jezsiah Sims in the 110-meter hurdles, Bryce Muskovin in the 300-meter hurdles, Eliot Schneider in the high jump, the 200-meter relay team of Sage Secrest, Sims, Landon Howland and Kameron Coleman, and the 400-meter relay team of Rob Weatherspoon, Eli Gerling, Corey Homes and Keegan Sorito.

“We had some self-inflicted mistakes on relays and looked a little rusty coming off spring break,” said R-P Coach Don Ketner. “We will look to improve quickly with the Rockford Invite on Friday.”
