The Reeths-Puffer girls basketball team showed a lot of grit on Friday night with an exciting 42-40 victory over Zeeland West in its final O-K Green conference game of the season.

The Rockets have now won three of their last four games and four of their last seven.

R-P led 14-9 after one quarter but then trailed 25-19 at halftime and 35-30 after three quarters.

Reeths-Puffer stole the victory in the fourth quarter by outscoring Zeeland West 12-5.

R-P's Brooklynn Tornes

Brooklynn Tornes, now only six points away from reaching 1,000 for her varsity career, had 18 points and five rebounds for the Rockets. Irelyn Niklasch added 10 points and 14 rebounds.

“Our defense was great tonight,” said R-[P Coach Rodney Walker. “We did a great job of rebounding and getting to the loose balls. I am so proud of our team effort.”

R-P, now 9-11 overall and 8-6 in conference play, will close out the regular season with a game at Hudsonville on Tuesday before diving into districts the following week.
