The Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team continued its quest for at least a share of an O-K Green conference title with a surprisingly difficult 83-70 victory over Wyoming on Friday night.

The Rockets had to battle the entire way, leading 22-16 after one quarter, 39-32 at halftime and 58-46 after three. R-P sewed up the victory with a 25-24 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Reeths-Puffer improved to 17-2 overall on the season and 11-1 in O-K Green play. The Rockets remain tied with Muskegon for first place in the conference.

After playing a very good North Farmington team at Grand Rapids Catholic on Saturday, the Rockets will wrap up their conference schedule by visiting Zeeland East on Tuesday and hosting Zeeland West next Friday.

R-P's Antrel Jones, who snagged a career-high 15 rebounds. 

Several R-P players put up impressive numbers in the win over Wyoming.

Jaxson Whitaker led the way with 26 points, eight assists and three steals. Travis Ambrose added 20 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks.

Brayden Mitchelson continued a recent hot streak with 14 points and four rebounds, Marvin Moore scored 13 points and Antrel Jones collected five points, 15 rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block.

Avonte Wiggins had 19 points for Wyoming, which fell to 6-14 overall and 2-10 in the conference.

“Wyoming always plays hard and shot the ball really well tonight,” said R-P Coach Nate Aardema, whose team converted 30 of 39 free throws in the game. “We had to work really hard for the win. We had some great stat lines. Antrel's 15 rebounds were a career high.”
