RP bowling

The Reeths-Puffer bowling program experienced a lot of success over the past few days, with an individual champion at its own invitational tournament on Saturday and two big team wins over Allendale on Monday.

It started on Saturday at the R-P Invitational at Northway Lanes, when Reeths-Puffer junior Quinn Alderink won the boys singles championship.

Alderink bowled games of 235, 178 and 212 for a 625 series and finished at the top of a field of 128 bowlers from 18 different teams.

In the team competition at the tournament, the R-P boys finished eighth in the preliminary rounds, then lost to Northview in the quarterfinals of the championship round. Grand Haven won the title.

In the girls competition, Bianca Kammers was the top R-P bowler, finishing 11th individually out of 96 bowlers with a 498 series.

Reeths-Puffer finished fourth in the team preliminary rounds, then beat Whitehall in the quarterfinals of the championship round. R-P fell to Sparta in the semifinals and Zeeland won the championship.

On Monday, the Reeths-Puffer boys pounded Allendale 27-3.

The Rockets started out by winning both baker games to earn 10 team points.

In singles play, Liam Copenhaver won two games for R-P while Karsen Boeskool, Peyton Estepp, Carter Hekkema, Tanner Bahr and Raleigh Beebe each won one. Copenhaver had a high game score of 221 for the Rockets.

The Rockets also earned bonus points for winning the total pin count in singles.

The R-P girls had similar success, beating Allendale 28-2.

The Rockets won both baker games to start off with 10 points.

Kammers, Brook Buchan and Brenna Ackerman each won two singles games for R-P while Hailey Johnsen and Mackenzie Carr each won one.

Kammers had the high game score with a 185.

R-P also won bonus points for the total pin count in singles.
