After a long layoff due to weather postponements, the Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team cut loose on Wednesday with a one-sided 81-19 victory over Grand Rapids Union in an O-K Green conference matchup.

The score was reasonably close after one quarter, with the Rockets leading 20-10, then R-P pulled away in the second quarter with a 23-4 advantage and led 43-14 by halftime.

Nine of the Rockets’ 11 players scored in the game, which was played with a running clock during much of the second half.

Travis Ambrose led the way with 21 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, Jaxson Whitaker added 18 points, five assists and four rebounds, while Brayden Mitchelson had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Marvin Moore chipped in eight points, Antrel Jones had seven points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Drew Brooks and Trevon Totten each scored six points.

“It was good to play after eight days without a game,” said R-P Coach Nate Aardema.

The Rockets, now 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference, will visit Wyoming on Friday night.
