Reeths-Puffer senior Jaxon Allen finished third at a Division 1 regional cross country race on Saturday in Allendale and qualified for the state finals for the third straight year.

Allen, who won individual city and conference championships earlier this season, ran a career-best time of 15:53. The regional champion was Grand Haven’s Seth Norder, who tore up the track with a time of 14:48.

Allen will now compete at the Division 1 state finals on Saturday at Michigan International Raceway in Brooklyn.

“Jaxon ran a fantastic race,” said R-P Coach Darin Grant. “He followed the race plan like a professional athlete, which brought him to his fastest race in his high school career. I am excited for Jaxon. We will see what his brain and body allow him to do at the big dance.”

The Rockets finished seventh out of 14 in the team competition with 191 points. Grand Haven won the team title with 91 points.

Junior Kye Grant finished 27th for the Rockets with a time of 16:57.

Sophomore Jack Yonkman was 50th at 17:44, senior Tate Bradley was 54th with a time of 17:54 and sophomore Dylan Starr was 57th with an 18:14 mark.
