There is still another record for Reeths-Puffer’s Liam Smith to break, and he’s quickly closing in on it.

The Reeths-Puffer senior hit a major milestone earlier this season when he set a new-R-P soccer career scoring record with 77 goals.

Smith has not slowed down since then.

He had a monster game on Saturday, scoring all five goals in R-P’s 5-4 victory over East Grand Rapids.

That brings Smith to 28 goals this season, which is three shy of the single-season school record of 31.

He scored 27 goals as a sophomore and 28 last year as a junior.

Smith, who will study and play soccer at Western Michigan University next year, currently has 89 goals in his varsity career.

Zac Sampson had two assists for the Rockets while London Carpenter and Kyler Brainard each had one in the victory over EGR.

The Rockets led 2-0 at halftime and outshot their visitors 12-6.

Reeths-Puffer, now 11-3-1 on the season, will host Jenison on Senior Night on Tuesday.
