R-P golf

Playing on an unfamiliar golf course for the first time can be challenging, but the Reeths-Puffer girls squad managed to do it with some success on Friday.

The Rockets finished fifth out of 10 teams at the Greenville Invitational at The Links at Bowen Lake, a course none of them had ever shot before.

Two R-P players earned “All Tournament” medals, despite their unfamiliarity with their surroundings.

R-P's Paige Anderson

Senior Paige Anderson continued her wildly successful season by shooting a 79, with birdies on three holes, and finishing second in the individual standings.

Junior Rowan Bluhm continued her recent upswing by shooting a 92 and finishing in 11th place overall, which was also good for a medal.

Sophia McCollum came in with a 97 for R-P, Avery Luma shot a 109, Abby Haak shot a 117 and Olivia Ambler shot a 132.

R-P's Rowan Bluhm

“This was the first time any of our girls have seen this course,” said R-P coach Matt Pallett. “Considering that, I feel Paige played extremely well to shoot under 80. She continues to impress.

“I am happy to see Rowan continuing to play well. After an injury-plagued season last year, she has continued to get better. I was glad to see her hard work pay off with the ‘All Invite Team’ medal.”

The Rockets will be busy next week. They will compete in another O-K Green conference jamboree on Wednesday and continue their pursuit of first place, then will host their own invitational tournament on Friday.
