The Reeths-Puffer girls golf team is inching closer to the top of the O-K Green conference standings.

The Rockets finished in second place on Wednesday in the second conference jamboree of the season, played at Winding Creek Golf Course.

R-P finished with a team score of 180, which was only four shots behind first-place Mona Shores, which scored a 176.

That’s a big improvement from the first jamboree, when the Rockets also took second place but were 13 shots behind the Sailors.

R-P Coach Matt Pallett was impressed with the team’s effort, and believes the best is yet to come for his players.

“We are getting close to reaching some of our team goals,” he said. “We will continue to work hard to achieve them.”

Senior Paige Anderson paced Reeths-Puffer with a score of 39, which was good for third place in the individual standings.

“Paige Anderson continues to impress,” Pallett said. “Our conference is loaded with very good players at the top and Paige is one of them. She continues to be our leader and rock.”

Junior Rowan Bluhm and freshman Sophia McCollum tied for seventh place individually, each finishing with a score of 45.

Freshman Olivia Ambler turned in a personal record score of 51, which was 20 shots better than she did in her first nine-hole event.

Senior Abby Haak shot a 55 and junior Avery Luna shot a 58.

The Rockets will return to action in the third conference jamboree at Lincoln Golf Course next Wednesday.
