With the Division 1 district tournament just around the corner, the Reeths-Puffer baseball team is heating up.

The Rockets won their fourth and fifth consecutive games on Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of Holland in O-K Green conference action.

R-P won the first game 11-3. Trent Reichert was very strong on the pitching mound, striking out 13 batters in six innings of work. Jack Yonkman pitched one inning in relief.

The Rockets trailed 1-0 until the fourth inning, when they scored four runs. They added three in both the fifth and sixth innings.

R-P's Kyle Schlaff, who had five RBIs in the doubleheader sweep.

Lukas Johnson and Kyle Schlaff each had two hits for Reeths-Puffer. Schlaff knocked in three runs while Johnson and Catcher Earnest each drove in two.’

Reeths-Puffer completed the successful night with a 6-0 victory in Game 2.

The Rockets led 1-0 until the fourth inning, when they scored two runs. They added one in the fifth and another two in the sixth.

Jaxson Whitaker started on the mound and got the win, going 5 2/3 innings while scattering three hits and striking out 11. Holden Earnest relieved in the sixth and recorded the last four outs.

Quinn Alderink led the R-P offense with two hits. Schlaff knocked in two runs.

Reeths-Puffer will close out the regular season on Tuesday with a game at Jenison, then will open district play with a game against Kenowa Hills on June 3 at 10 a.m. at Mona Shores High School. 

A victory would put the Rockets in the 2 p.m. championship game with a chance to defend their 2022 district title.
