R-P softball players

The Reeths-Puffer softball team had a great warm-up for its looming showdown with Mona Shores by sweeping two O-K Green conference games from Holland on Monday.

The Rockets fought from way back to beat the Dutch 7-6 in the opener. They scored five runs in the fifth inning to tie the score, then plated the winning run in the top of the seventh inning.

Mady Snyder had a big game in the pitching circle, striking out 16 batters.

Megan Barmes hit a single and triple for R-P.  Snyder, Lainey McDaniel , Kaylee Jones and Aubrey Clark each hit singles.

Reeths-Puffer had a much easier time in the second game, romping to a 16-0 win in four innings.

The Rockets scored one run in both the first and second innings, four more in the third and 10 in the fourth to apply the knockout punch.

R-:P's Kyleigh Bilek, who shut down the Dutch in Game 2. 

Jones, Snyder and McDaniel each had two hits. Kyleigh Bilek pitched the shutout while only allowing one hit.

The Rockets will visit Mona Shores on Thursday afternoon for a Division 1 district play-in game. The winner will advance to the district tournament on June 3 while the loser will be done for the season.
