The Reeths-Puffer girls tennis team wrapped up a very successful season on Thursday with a fifth-place finish at the Division 1 regional tournament at Forest Hills Northern and Forest Hills Central high schools.

The Rockets tied Northview for fifth with nine points. Forest Hills Northern won the regional with 28 points while Forest Hills Central took second with 24.

R-P's Brooke Titus, who finished the season with a 20-9 record.

Brooke Titus (No. 1 singles), Olivia Harris (No. 2 singles), Whitney Dulyea and Emma Fraser (No. 2 doubles) and Hope Latsch and Olivia Smith (No. 4 doubles) all advanced to the regional semifinals before losing.

The Rockets were eliminated from championship competition in five different flights by either Forest Hills Northern or Forest Hills Central.

Titus finished the season with a 20-9 record. Harris finished at 22-7. Dulyea and Fraser posted a 19-4 record and Latsch and Smith finished 18-6.

R-P's Olivia Harris, who finished with a 22-7 record.

Malania Eilers and Gaby Borgeson (No. 3 doubles) finished the season with 14 victories while Molly Matz (No. 4 singles) and Ali Jakobi and Emily Champoux (No. 1 doubles) finished with 12 wins.

“Despite only winning five matches the team earned an impressive nine points,” said R-P Coach Ryan Hankinson about regionals. “All the flights who reached the semifinals battled and competed against two of the best teams in the entire state.

Emma Fraser and Whitney Dulyea, who finished 19-4 at No. 2 doubles.

“The happiest moment was sending out all three seniors with a win at regionals. The rest of the girls learned what degree of separation there is between us today and the top teams that consistently go to state year in and year out.

“I firmly believe that seeing that gap shrink is the key for R-P players taking the next step of winning the local city tournament and winning our first conference championship.”
