Lukas Johnson broke open a tied game with a three-run homer on Tuesday and gave the Reeths-Puffer baseball team an exciting 6-3 victory over host Zeeland West in the second game of an O-K Green conference doubleheader.

The game was tied 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning when Johnson delivered his decisive homer, which was his first of the season.

R-P pitcher Jaxson Whitaker went the distance, limiting Zeeland West to three hits while striking out 11 and walking none.

R-P's Lukas Johnson, whose three-run homer won the game for the Rockets. 

Trent Reichert led the R-P offense with three hits while Johnson and David Wilhelm added two apiece.

The first game didn’t go as well for the Rockets, who lost 11-2.

Wilhelm, Johnson, Reichert, Garrett Chesney, Kyle Schlaff and Quinn Alderink had hits for R-P. Colton Bessinger started on the mound for the Rockets and struck out three without walking a batter.

Reeths-Puffer, now 12-10 on the season, will host Zeeland West in a single-game series finale on Thursday.
