Reeths-Puffer, Fruitport and Oakridge all finished with 1-1 records in pool play, but Oakridge advanced to the championship game based on run differential.

Lainey McDaniel, who pitched the win in the second game for the Rockets.

The Rockets are now 17-5 on the season.

“We made four errors in Game 1, and when you combine that with lower production than normal at the plate, you’re just not going to come out with a win,” said R-P Coach Sarah Bayle. “However, we learned more from that loss about our team and moving forward than we would have with a win. We went on to defeat Oakridge in the next game for the second time this season.

“We are learning and growing as a team heading into the last few weeks of the season!”
