The Reeths-Puffer baseball team continued its midseason slump on Wednesday, losing a pair of games to a very strong Zeeland East squad in a conference doubleheader.

The Rockets lost the opener 5-0 after failing to get a hit. R-P Pitcher Colton Bessinger, making his first varsity start, pitched well through four innings, holding Zeeland East to just one run.

R-P collected three hits in Game 2, from Catcher Earnest, Jaxson Whitaker and Trent Reichert, but lost 12-1.

Brayden Mitchelson started on the mound for the Rockets and performed pretty well, allowing just two runs on three hits and no walks over two innings.

The Rockets have now lost seven in a row after starting the season with 10 straight wins.

They will visit Zeeland East for a single game on Thursday before competing in Saturday’s GMAA city tournament.
