R-P track runner

Brianna Smith is making a habit out of beating her own personal records and piling up points for the Reeths-Puffer girls track team.

The senior sprinter had another good night for the Rockets on Thursday in an O-K Green conference meet against Holland.

Smith won the 200-meter dash and set a new personal record in her effort. R-P swept that event, with Melana Johnson and Savannah Lockwood taking second and third place, respectively.

Adrienne Fluette took first place in the long jump while Bella Smith won the pole vault competition.

Finishing second for R-P were Smith in the 100-meter dash, Johnson in the 200-meter dash, Fluette in the 800-meter run and Madalyn Simpson in both the 100-meter hurdles and shot put.

The Rockets lost the team competition by a score of 92-41.

“The highlights of the night were watching our 200 girls sweep the event, going 1-2-3 against Holland, and then having Savannah Lockwood come back for a nice personal record in the 400,” said R-P Coach Angie Grant.

“Keeley Cole again had a strong night, scoring in the 800 and 3,200 and running personal records in both distance events.”
