Reeths-Puffer’s Brayden Mitchelson pitched great on Thursday, tossing a complete game-one hitter to lead the Rockets to a 9-0 victory over Grand Rapids Union in O-K Green conference action.

Mitchelson struck out 11 Red Hawk batters while walking three.

“Brayden threw 70 percent first-pitch strikes,” said R-P Coach Butch Attig. “No matter who you are facing when you do that, usually your team will be in every ballgame. He works hard at his craft and it showed today.”

Chase Smith paced the R-P offense with two hits. Garrett Chesney and Kyle Schlaff each scored a pair of runs.

The victory completed the Rockets’ three game sweep of Union this week. R-P won the first two games against the Red Hawks on Tuesday.

Reeths-Puffer is now 10-0 on the season and 6-0 in the conference standings.

The Rockets will return to action on at home on Friday afternoon with a challenging non-conference matchup against Allendale.
