R-P track athletes

In her first try at long jump in high school competition, Reeths-Puffer sophomore Adrienne Fluette met the challenge and earned a medal, taking third place in the event at Friday’s Fruitport Invitational.

Fluette covered a distance of 13 feet, 11.75 inches. She finished behind Jasmin Williams and Ahnecea Williams, two Berrien Springs standouts who finished first and second, respectively.

Fluette’s strong debut in the long jump was one of several highlights for the R-P girls track team, which finished fifth in the nine-team field with 55 points. Berrien Springs won the team title with 166 points.

R-P’s Jersi Bilek took second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.

Bri Smith took third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.33, despite an initial stumble out of the blocks.

Lainey McDaniel finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.06.

Bella Smith snagged a fifth-place finish in pole vault by clearing 8 feet, 6 inches.

Three R-P co-op relay teams, comprised of athletes from the girls and boys teams, also finished in the top five of their respective races.
