The Reeths-Puffer girls soccer team captured its third straight victory with a 2-1 win over Western Michigan Christian at home on Saturday.

Both of the Rockets’ goals came in the first half.

R-P's Sophia Hekkema, who scored her team's first goal.

Sophia Hekkema scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season, and Taeah Rensberger scored her second of the season with an assist from Billie Tryska.

WMC scored on its only shot on goal of the game. The Rockets had an 8-1 advantage in shots.

“We demonstrated great passing and continued to experiment with lineups and the girls looked very sharp,” said R-P Coach Kody Harrell. “I give a lot of credit to (WMC's) goalkeeper. She made a couple of big saves, including a kick save on Sophia Hekkema on a breakaway.

R-P's Taeah Rensberger, who scored the Rockets' second goal.

“WMC was well organized and gave us a different look than what we have seen this season. They helped us work on a lot of different areas of our game.”

The Rockets, now 4-1-1 on the season, will visit Wyoming on Monday then host Zeeland East on Thursday in a pair of O-K Green conference matchups.
