The Reeths-Puffer boys golf team had its first significant success of the season on Saturday, taking first place in the White Division and finishing fifth overall out a field of 18 teams at the Kent City Invitational at the Falls of Barber Creek.

Junior Dylan Panozzo led the Rockets with a score of 84, which was third in the division and ninth overall. His best moment came on the twelfth hole, which he birdied.

Freshman Kristian Brown shot an 87, good for ninth in the division and 16th place overall. Brown helped his own cause with a birdie on the tenth hole.

“I am really proud of the team today,” R-P Coach Matt Pallett said after the tournament. “We got off to a slow start but settled in and found a nice stretch of golf.  I’m very happy for Dylan Panozzo. This is the first time he has won an individual medal. I hope he gets hungry for many more.

“Our tough opening schedule will make us better, and make no mistake about it, we need to get better!”

The Rockets will hit the course again on Wednesday at an O-K Green Conference jamboree at Lincoln Golf Club.
