Usually a tie is nothing to be happy about, but the Reeths-Puffer girls tennis team was pretty satisfied with a 4-4 draw against traditional power Ludington on Thursday.

The deadlock comes on the heels of a stunning win over Whitehall, another area powerhouse, earlier this week.

“Another great day for the young Rockets against a regular area power,” said R-P Coach Ryan Hankinson. “The girls have shown enormous early season improvement and are two-thirds of the way to their more successful week ever, if they have another successful performance at the Lowell Invitational (on Saturday).”

R-P's Olivia Harris, who won her No. 2 singles match.

The Rockets collected two points in singles competition, with Olivia Harris beating Ludington’s Mia Punt 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2.  Brooke Titus won the No. 1 singles match by default.

R-P also collected two wins in doubles play. Emily Champoux and Ali Jacobi won their match 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 while Hope Latsch and Olivia Smith won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4.

“Great chemistry was displayed by the two newest double teams - close senior friends Emily and Ali, as well as the assertive freshman tandem of Hope and Olivia,” Hankinson said.
