Reeths-Puffer junior golfer Dylan Panozzo had a good day on Wednesday, shooting a 45 and placing 10th individually in the first O-K Green conference meet of the season at the Muskegon Country Club.

As a team, Reeths-Puffer finished fourth out of six squads with an overall score of 194, ahead of Holland (198) and Wyoming (258).

Mona Shores won the event with a 172 score.

R-P freshman Kristian Brown continued his strong start to the season by shooting a 46 and finishing 14th in the individual standings.

Tanner Bonjernoor shot a 50 for the Rockets, followed by Mason Cregg (53), Travis Ambrose (55) and David Grimard (57).

Panozzo has now at least tied for the R-P team lead in two tournaments, and Coach Matt Pallett thinks he’s on an upward trajectory.

“Dylan had a great birdie tonight that I think will help build his confidence moving forward,” Pallett said.

The coach has also been impressed with Brown, who tied for the team lead at Monday’s tournament and looks like a solid varsity newcomer.

“Not an easy two courses to start his career,” Pallett said about Brown. “He tied for first and placed second on the team. I look forward to seeing his progress this season.”

Despite so-so team finishes at the first two tournaments of the season, Pallett thinks the Rockets will benefit from their early struggles.

“Our schedule out of the gate has not been easy,” the coach said. “Egypt Valley and Muskegon Country Club have really tested my guys, not only with their physical game but even more with their mental game. I believe this will make us better as the season goes along.”
