Central Elementary: Final Details for Reopening

The 2020-2021 school year is almost here and we couldn’t be more excited! Again, welcome back! Although you received much, if not most, of the following information within the recent placement letter packet, please recognize this as follow-up communication to revisit some of the key components to our plan for a safe and successful reopening.

Soft-Start Schedule:

  • Tuesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 10:  Students with last names A-K will attend a full day, 9:00 am - 2:30 pm.

  • Wednesday, September 9 and Friday, September 11: Students with last names L-Z will attend a full day, 9:00 am - 2:30 pm.

Drop-off and Pick-up:

  • Please review the Arrival and Dismissal expectations and revisit the maps outlining plans for parking and traffic flow.

  • Drop-off and pick-up will operate within a very tight window in order to provide safety, supervision, and social distancing.

    • We ask for grace, as we know the parking lots will be full considering fewer students will be riding buses and the window of time for dropping off/picking up has been condensed. Thank you, in advance, for your patience, cooperation, and understanding.

Door Schedule:

  • Again, to execute our plans around student and staff safety, doors will need to remain locked in accordance to drop-off/pick-up and busing schedules. Doors will therefore open, as follows:

    • 8:50-9:00 am

    • 2:30-2:40 pm

  • Doors will remain locked prior to, and following, the above times.

  • The main entrance (exterior) doors will remain open from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. To prevent congregating, please contact the office prior to or upon arrival, or schedule an appointment in advance.

Meals and Times:

  • Both breakfast and lunch will take place in the classroom this school year.

  • We are excited to share that both breakfast and lunch will be free of charge through December (at minimum) as our Food Service team was able to secure a grant extending free meals for students.

    • Parents are still encouraged to complete free and reduced lunch applications, however, but please hold off on depositing money for meals within your child’s account until further notice.

  • Breakfast will be provided upon arrival, roughly 9:00-9:10 am.

  • Lunch will be served in the classrooms, as follows:

1st Grade: 11:30-12:00

2nd Grade: 11:35-12:05

3rd Grade: 11:40-12:10

Kindergarten: 11:55-12:25

4th Grade: 12:00-12:30

Masks are Required:

  • Masks must be worn by students and staff at all times except for during meals. We are also structuring mask breaks strategically throughout the day. Breaks may include:

    • Recess (students will be in their cohorts and on designated areas of the playground)

    • Structured Outdoor Learning (students will be in their cohorts and maintain social distance)

    • Short Breaks (these must take place outside with social distance)

  • Please send your child to school with a clean mask each day. You may want to consider sending an extra, just in case, and/or having a mask for each day of the week.
