TOP TEN GRADUATES

Gabrielle Nelson

GABRIELLE NELSON

Valedictorian of the Reeths-Puffer High School Class of 2020 is Gabrielle Nelson. Gabrielle is the daughter of Lee and Angie Nelson. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.35. Gabrielle is a member of Spanish Club, Rocket City Rotary Interact Club, and the Muskegon Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council. She has been employee of the month at The Lake House Waterfront Grille and volunteer of the month at the Muskegon Humane Society. Gabrielle plans to attend Ferris State University, where she has been accepted into the Honors Program, to obtain a degree in biology and pre-optometry. Afterwards she plants to attend Michigan College of Optometry in the Accelerated Doctorate Program.

LYNSEY MURA

LYNSEY MURA

Salutatorian of the Reeths-Puffer High School Class of 2020 is Lynsey Mura. She is the daughter of John and Leah Mura. Lynsey has a weighted grade point average of 4.33. She is a member of Spanish Club and Rocket City Rotary Interact Club. Lynsey will be attending Central Michigan University’s Honors Program where she has been awarded the Centralis Gold Award. She plans on pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public health with a concentration in dietetics and nutrition.

Cameron Priebe

CAMERON PRIEBE

Cameron Priebe, daughter of Brad Priebe and Amy Priebe, is graduating number 3 in the Class of 2020. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.33. Cameron is a member of Spanish Club and is also a volunteer with the Muskegon Humane Society. She plans on attending Ferris State University where she has been awarded the Founders Scholarship. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Cameron plans to attend Ferris State University’s College of Pharmacy.

JOEY YANG

JOEY YANG

Graduating number 4 in the Class of 2020 is Joey Yang. Joey is the daughter of Jin and Yu Yang. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.28. Joey is a member of the Rocket City Rotary Interact Club, National Honors Society, Spanish Club, and plays Varsity Tennis. She is a pharmacy intern at Walgreens, and is also a volunteer at Mercy Hospital and the Muskegon Humane Society. After graduation, Joey plans on attending the University of Michigan to earn a bachelor’s degree in human biology before attending medical school to become a cardiologist or oncologist.

Parker Harmon

PARKER HARMON

Parker Harmon is graduating number 5 in the class of 2020. He is the son of Chris and Melissa Harmon. Parker has a weighted grade point average of 4.27. He has been involved with the Be Nice Program and the Rocket City Rotary Interact Club. Parker will be attending the University of Michigan to obtain a degree in computer engineering. He will then continue at the University of Michigan to pursue a degree through their Sequential Undergraduate/Graduate Studies program.

Abigail Fansler

ABIGAIL FANSLER

Abigail Fansler, daughter of Tim and Jenny Fansler, is graduating number 6 in the Class of 2020. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.26. Abigail has been a member of the Varsity Golf Team having earned All-Conference, All-State Honorable Mention, and All-State Academic Honorable Mention. She is a member of the Varsity Soccer team where she was named All-Conference Honorable Mention, and she is also a Varsity Basketball player. Abigail is a member of the National Honor Society, Impact Team, PALS, and serves on Student Council where she is the Senior Class Secretary. She plans on attending Hope College where she has been awarded the Distinguished Scholar Award and will pursue a degree in engineering.

Sydney Edwards

SYDNEY EDWARDS

Sydney Edwards, daughter of Steve and Karyn Edwards, is graduating number 7 in the class of 2020. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.24. Sydney has been a member of the girls’ Varsity Softball Team and Volleyball Team, having been team captain for both sports. Her extracurricular activities include being a member of IMPACT, Rocket City Rotary Interact Club, Athletic Student Leadership Council, STATS, Children’s Theater, and Secretary of Student Council. Sydney will attend Eastern Michigan University’s Honor’s College where she has been awarded a full academic scholarship. She will be pursuing a degree in either nursing or pre-medicine.

Jonathan Krause

JONATHAN KRAUSE

Graduating number 8 in the Class of 2020 is Jonathan Krause. Jonathan is the son of Paul and Jessica Krause. He has a weighted grade point average of 4.15. Jonathan has been involved in Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Madrigals, School Musicals, and the Gay Straight Alliance. He is a member of his church choir, participated in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony, Interlochen World Youth Wind Symphony, Western Michigan University Music Seminar, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camps Masterworks Orchestra, and the Central Michigan University Summer Reed-making Intensive. Jonathan also freelances as an oboe player. He has been chosen for All State Band, State Honors TTBB Choir, Michigan Youth Arts Festival Honors Band and All-State Honors Choir. Jonathan’s awards consist of Outstanding Symphonic Band Member, 1st Division at State for both Instrumental and Vocal Solo & Ensemble, and 1st Place Group Performance at Muskegon Showcase. He plans on attending the University of Michigan School of Music majoring in oboe. After graduation, Jonathan hopes to one day play in a professional orchestra.

Blaine Hynde

BLAINE HYNDE

Blaine Hynde is graduating number 9 in the Class of 2020. He is the son of Gene and Diana Hynde. Blaine has a weighted grade point average of 4.12. He has been a member of IMPACT, PALS, National Honor Society and Student Council. Blaine has also played hockey and lacrosse during his high school career. He plans on attending Elmhurst College, where he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship, to pursue a bachelor’s degree and play lacrosse.

Lauren Ross

LAUREN ROSS

Lauren Ross, daughter of Brent and Kim Ross, is graduating number 10 in the Class of 2020. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.09. Lauren has been a member of Student Council serving as Senior Class President, IMPACT, National Honor Society, and PALS. She has played basketball where she served as team captain for 3 years, and played on the Michigan Basketball Academy’s 2020 National AAU Basketball Team. Lauren has earned Academic All-State, First-Team All-State, 2 year All Conference, and been selected as Muskegon’s MLIVE girls’ Basketball Dream Team the past 2 years. She is a 1000 point and all-time leading girls’ scorer in R-P history. Lauren represents Reeths-Puffer High School as the 2020 Female Athlete for Student Showcase. She plans on attending Ferris State University where she has been awarded a full athletic basketball scholarship, as well as the Provost Scholarship, in hopes of majoring in either psychology or special education.
