Reeths-Puffer High School

Valedictorian of the Reeths-Puffer High School Class of 2012 is Stephany Zahl. Stephany is the daughter of Wayne and Kathy Zahl. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.21. Stephany has been involved in Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Children's Theatre, STATS, and the National Honor Society. She is also the senior class vice president, is on the IMPACT Team, is involved in competitive dance and is a volunteer elementary tutor. Stephany will attend the Frederik Meijer Honors College at GVSU, majoring in biomedical science and then applying to Medical School after graduation from GVSU, eventually becoming a Pediatrician. She has received the Faculty Scholarship and the Excellence of Merit Scholarship from GVSU, renewable for four years.

Salutatorian of the Reeths-Puffer High School Class of 2012 is Nicolas Baker. He is the son of Jon and Holly Baker. Nick has a weighted grade point average of 4.20. He has played in the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and was voted Concert Band Member of the Year in 2009. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, the IMPACT team and the tennis team. Nick plans to attend Michigan State University's Lyman Brigg's College in the fall to study Science.

Graduating number 3 in the Class of 2012 is Zachary Rykse. Zach is the son of Richard and Amy Rykse. He has a weighted grade point average of 4.17. Zach has been active in Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and has played in the Pit Band for the school musicals. Zach plans to attend Michigan State University in the fall to study Advanced Mathematics.

Lauren Berry is graduating number 4 in the Class of 2012. She is the daughter of Linda and Matthew Maycroft. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.159. Lauren has been on the tennis team for 4 years and is a member of the Psychology Club. She has also been chosen twice as Student of the Month. Lauren plans to attend Muskegon Community College for 2 years, then transfer to a university to study Psychology.

Shelbie Shelder, daughter of Jerry and Patricia Shelder, is graduating number 5 in the Class of 2012. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.155. Shelbie has participated in tennis, cross country, track, STATS and sideline and competitive cheer. She has also been vice president of the National Honor Society, is treasurer of the senior class, was honor guard for the class of 2011 and has coached `Girls on the Run'. Shelbie plans to attend Michigan State University in the fall, where she has been accepted into the Charles Drew Science Scholar's Program. She plans to major in Biology or Chemistry with a long term plan of becoming a Physician Assistant.

Nicholas Bushen, son of Jerry and Jody Bushen, is graduating number 6 in this year's class with a weighted grade point average of 4.14. Nick has been a member of the Symphonic Band, Science Olympiad, SADD, Michigan Math League, the National Honor Society and First Priority. He will attend Muskegon Community College this fall, where he is a recipient of the Board of Trustees Scholarship. Nick plans to then transfer to Grand Valley State University to pursue a degree in Finance or Technology.

Lauren Robbins is graduating number 8 in this year's class. She is the daughter of Sue and Todd Robbins. Lauren has a weighted grade point average of 4.10. She has participated in sideline and competitive cheerleading and coached cheerleading for 1st and 2nd graders. She has also been in Close-Up, the National Honor Society and is a secretary of the senior class. Lauren plans to attend Grand Valley State University in the fall to study Pre-Medicine.

Kara Versalle, daughter of Rick and Debra Versalle, is number 9 in this year's class. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.09. Kara has been in the National Honor Society, Theatre, French Club and has kept stats for the basketball and baseball teams. She has been a math tutor and a camp counselor at the museum. Kara plans to attend Michigan State University, where she is a recipient of the Alumni Scholarship, to double major in Mathematics and Business.
