TOP TEN GRADUATES

Reeths-Puffer High School is proud to announce the top ten graduating seniors for the Class of 2011. Valedictorian and Salutatorian were selected by ACT and MME test scores, in accordance with the Reeths-Puffer High School handbook policy.

COURTNEY TERRYN

COURTNEY TERRYN

Valedictorian of the Reeths-Puffer High School Class of 2011 is Courtney Terryn. Courtney is the daughter of Duane Terryn and Valarie and Wendell King. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.21. Courtney has been involved in Student Council, the National Honor Society, track, marching band and wind ensemble. She also coaches martial arts, is a hospital volunteer and an assistant coach for the Girls on the Run program. Courtney was an Academic Honoree for Showcase 2011, and an Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship National Finalist. She plans to attend Ferris State University in the fall, where she is a recipient of the Founder's Scholarship, to earn her degree in Pharmacy. She then plans to continue her education at Michigan State University to earn a PhD. and M.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology.

EMILY KAULIUS

EMILY KAULIUS

Salutatorian of the Class of 2011 is Emily Kaulius. She is the daughter of Al and Jennifer Kaulius. Emily has a weighted grade point average of 4.20. She has played in the marching band, wind ensemble, and the pit orchestra for the high school musicals. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Destination Imagination. Emily plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall to earn a degree in Statistics.

COLIN MCQUONE

COLIN MCQUONE

Graduating number 3 in the Class of 2011 is Colin McQuone. Colin is the son of Patrick and Joann McQuone. He has a weighted grade point average of 4.17. Colin has participated in cross-country, track, football, the Boy Scouts of America and Science Olympiad. He is also active in his church youth group and teaches Sunday School. Colin plans to attend the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he has been awarded a full tuition scholarship, to study Chemical Engineering.

JENNA HOLMES

JENNA HOLMES

Jenna Holmes is graduating number 4 in the Class of 2011. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Carolyn Holmes. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.15. Jenna has played in the band, is editor of R-P's literary magazine "Lighthouse", and is a member of the National Honor Society and Destination Imagination. She is also part of the West Michigan Youth Symphony and her church youth group. She is the recipient of two VFW scholarships, the Voice of Democracy and the Don Rea Post, District 12. Jenna plans to attend Kalamazoo College to pursue a Psychology degree.

ERIC HESTER

ERIC HESTER

Eric Hester, son of Dick and Christy Hester, is graduating number 5 in the Class of 2011. He has a weighted grade point average of 4.14. Eric has been a member of the marching band, wind ensemble, jazz band, West Michigan Youth Symphony and plays in the pit band for the high school musicals. He is also involved in Madrigals, National Honor Society, Destination Imagination, and the "Lighthouse" Creative Writing Club. He is a National Merit Finalist and a recipient of the Michigan Competing Bands Association Scholarship and the West Michigan Concert Winds Youth Soloist Scholarship. Eric will attend Western Michigan University's Lee Honors College this fall, where he has been awarded the Director's Scholarship and Dean's Scholarship along with Academic and Artistic Awards, to pursue a career in Music Education.

RYAN HOBBY

RYAN HOBBY

Ryan Hobby, son of Scott and Lisa Hobby, is graduating number 6 in this year's class with a weighted grade point average of 4.13. Ryan is a member of the R-P Athletic Council and the National Honor Society where he has served 2 years as treasurer. He has played basketball, baseball, and football, where he has been team captain for 4 years, been chosen for the MVP Award, Gale Bolthouse Award, and earned All-Area, All-Conference and Academic All-State. He has also worked as a youth baseball umpire. Ryan is a recipient of the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship, been chosen twice as Student of the Month and been selected as WZZM TV 13's Meijer Scholar Athlete. Ryan plans to attend either the University of Michigan or Michigan State University in the fall to study Medicine.

HANNAH MACIEJEWSKI

Graduating number 7 in the Class of 2011 is Hannah Maciejewski. Hannah is the daughter of Ron and Connie Maciejewski. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.133. Hannah was captain of the cross-country team (conference and city champion teams), been captain of the soccer team (district champion team), is a member of the National Honor Society and her church youth group. She has been selected Student Athlete of the Week and Student of the Month. Hannah plans to attend Central Michigan University in the fall to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant.

ALEXANDRA MILLER

Alexandra Miller is graduating number 8 in this year's class. She is the daughter of Allie and Karen Miller. Alexandra has a weighted grade point average of 4.131. She has been a member of Science Olympiad, Spanish Club, Psychology Club, First Priority and the National Honor Society. Alexandra has also participated in softball, her church youth group and helps with peer tutoring. She will be attending Muskegon Community College this fall, where she has received the Board of Trustees Scholarship, then to Grand Valley State University to become a certified Financial Planner.

Emily Dean, daughter of Terry and Ann Dean, is number 9 in this year's class. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.119. Emily has been in Children's Theater, was captain of the tennis team, earning All-Conference, and captain of the volleyball team where she earned All-Conference, Academic All-State, and was chosen MVP. She has also been a member of the National Honor Society, Athletes in Action, and played the Fiddler in the high school musical "Fiddler on the Roof". Emily plans to attend Denison University, Oakland University or the University of Minnesota, to major in Math or Statistics.

Courtney Cave is graduating 10th in the Class of 2011. She is the daughter of Charles and Jayne Cave. Courtney has a weighted grade point average of 4.119. She has participated in cross-country, earning All-Conference, played soccer, and was captain of the basketball team. She has also been a member of the National Honor Society, and been chosen as Student of the Month. Courtney plans to attend Grand Valley State University's Honors College in the fall to major in Biomedical Sciences.
