Throughout the past year, Reeths-Puffer’s DK–12 staff has worked to identify the most essential skills and concepts within the Michigan State Standards. Teachers selected 10 to 12 priority standards for each grade level and subject area, helping students spend more time developing deeper understanding instead of rushing through a long checklist.
All required standards will still be taught, but this focused approach creates more room for student-centered learning, cross-curricular connections, and real-world experiences. Students may demonstrate their learning through activities such as mock trials, interviews, performances, presentations, and community-based projects.

The program gives students opportunities to connect with others around shared hobbies, crafts, and skills outside of traditional classes, sports, and activities. More than 400 students participated this spring through after-school clubs and interest-based gatherings designed to build belonging, community, and student ownership.

For students who communicate in ways other than spoken language, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, or AAC, can provide important tools for expressing thoughts, needs, and ideas. These tools may include electronic devices and communication apps, as well as picture boards, gestures, sign language, or writing.
At Central Elementary, many of our students use Language Acquisition through Motor Planning Words for Life (LAMP-WFL), throughout the school day. Because carrying and using electronic devices can be more challenging during recess and other outdoor activities, outdoor core communication boards were created for the playground and outdoor classroom.

As we look back on highlights from the past school year, R-P Fine Arts’ production of Matilda the Musical stands out as a memorable celebration of talent, creativity, and teamwork.
Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved story, the production followed Matilda as she discovered her inner strength and learned the importance of courage, resilience, and standing up for what is right. Engaging musical numbers, creative set designs, and vibrant costumes helped bring the story to life for audiences.
The production also gave students valuable opportunities to build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and gain hands-on experience in areas such as acting, lighting, sound, and set construction. Congratulations to the cast, crew, and everyone who helped make the performance such a success.

Reeths-Puffer Middle School brought back a meaningful opportunity designed to help students connect beyond the traditional classroom experience. Through “Blast Time,” middle school students spent time with peers in the school’s regional MOCI classroom, building relationships through activities such as games, crafts, reading, and simple cooking projects.
For the students who participate, it’s more than just a visit. They’re learning patience, empathy, and what it means to be a leader by simply showing up and being present. Just as importantly, the students in the classroom feel a strong sense of connection and support, knowing they are celebrated and included by their peers.

STEM CAMP !!
Offered in collaboration with MAISD, this camp is for students entering 1st-8th grade (24/25 school year) who are interested in the world of STEM.

ESSER lll Funding - Stakeholder Input Survey "2"
In December 2021, Reeths-Puffer district and community stakeholders were invited to have input on how the district could best use American Recovery Act funds to recover from learning loss in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are pleased to report that all projects originally approved under this grant have been completed or are under way.
We are once again seeking input on how to best use the remaining funds from that grant. These funds are for one-time or short-term expenditures to address post-pandemic learning loss. Please take time to let us know your opinion by completing this brief survey by 2:00 pm on Friday, March 1, 2024.
