Good Afternoon Central Families,

I hope this finds you doing well and able to spend precious time with your family. Although teachers have been working hard to stay connected and provide learning opportunities since our last day together on March 13th, we have used these past few weeks as a district to develop a more formalized plan that supports continued learning for the upcoming 8 weeks. Please recognize the plan as constantly under construction. We are committed to best meeting the needs of our students and families by remaining reasonable and flexible during this unique time. We will continue to adapt our weekly plans based on your feedback, and most importantly, the needs of our learners. While we recognize the many challenges and difficult circumstances during this trying time, we hope our plan allows each family and each learner to engage the best they can. THANK YOU in advance for your patience and grace as we fail forward, together, as a Central family and R-P community!

Important things to know as we move forward

  • Teachers are working to develop a CONTINUED LEARNING PLAN. We are building this and nothing is written in cement (more like Jello right now):

    • We recognize the importance of supporting students SOCIALLY and EMOTIONALLY as well as ACADEMICALLY through this. We feel we have an important role to serve our community in both of these areas and both are a priority for our work.

    • Your teacher will communicate what their plans look like for next week. Know that our START date will be NO LATER THAN Tuesday, April 14.

    • We will not try to recreate a school day and will follow recommended guidelines for the length of TIME an elementary student should spend on school work and on a screen.

    • The plan will be consistent for each grade/content, but each teacher will add their own personal touch points and support for students. Your teachers are still the main contact point.

    • You should plan to receive communication from your child's teacher that will include the lessons for the week.

    • Teachers will connect with students to provide additional details, answer questions, and support work. This could be through e-mail, Zoom. Google Meetings, phone calls, videos, etc. We will support students with the new tools. Remember, many are new for teachers too!

  • FOOD DISTRIBUTION is still going on each Wednesday at RPHS from 9-11:00.

  • Once some of the travel and distancing restrictions are lifted, we will provide times that ITEMS can be RETRIEVED FROM THE BUILDING.

Although the building is closed, school is not. Teaching, learning, and distanced human connection will go on. Among our staff, there is a strong sense of pride in serving our community in brand new ways during this uncertain time. Please let us know how we can best support the engagement of your students.

As always, thank you for your support and ongoing partnership.

Go Rockets!
