7th Grade Basketball vs Mona Shores

Rockets Fall Short

A slow start doomed the 7th grade Rockets against the host Sailors of Mona Shores. After falling behind 14-0 after a quarter and a half, the girls began to fight back. They picked up the tempo offensively, began boxing out, and defensively did some really nice things. Unfortunately, every time they crept close, the Sailors had a response. Despite a wonderful team effort, they simply could not get over the hump to pull out a win and ended up losing by seven. Mya Swain  paved the way and led all scorers with eleven points while hauling in seven rebounds. Jenna Terpstra chipped in six points and six boards of her own. Kyleigh Bilek and Ma’Kaia Riley-McGuffey also popped in a few buckets of their own down the stretch to close the gap. Dani Balaskovitz and Maddilynn Dyer came up with multiple big steals for the RP defense. The girls are in the homestretch now with games remaining against Muskegon, Jenison and West Ottawa.
