Hello Reeths-Puffer Families,

It has been one week since we began this phase of learning and living in Reeths-Puffer. I will continue to send out new resources every couple of days to help support you at home with engagement in learning for our kids.

The following are “vetted” resources to help support home engagement for your child, the first 4 are new and the others are repeats from the other day in case you missed them.

        5. Have your child read or read to your child for 20 minutes - This will engage them in 

                150,00 words in 4 weeks, developing their vocabulary and meaning of text.

        6. Play board, card and strategy games - This supports numerical thinking, problem 

                solving and working together.    

  

As we move into week two, our students may be showing concern over the shutdown. They may need more time processing all the changes happening in their world. We all play a part in reassuring them. You may see different behaviors in younger students as they do not have the words to express their thinking, adolescent students may be quieter and some may be more emotional. Be patient and take opportunities to talk with and listen to them. Below you will see a few ideas for conversation starters. These starters are non-threatening topics meant to relax and allow them to express their creativity.

 1. If you could go into any TV show – what show would want to visit?

 2. If you could only eat one fruit forever – what fruit would it be?

 3. What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

 4. What do you think you are good at?

 5. If you had to pick only one – would you want to be a great singer or a great dancer?

 6. If you went to another planet – what would you bring with you?
