Sailor Salute 2019

Hello Rocket City,

In a community as wonderfully diverse as Rocket City, there are very few things about which there is unanimous agreement.  Two things that I’ve noticed about which our community seems to have unanimous support are a deep and undying love for our kids and a deep appreciation and respect for our Veterans, Active Duty Military, and our First Responders.

I wanted to share with you an exciting opportunity RP has to express that appreciation and respect for active and retired military and our first responders.  Our kids have made it a goal to have our community be a part of the Sailor Salute during the football game on September 13th at Mona Shores High School.  The “Impact” student leadership group at the high school has been working with Mona Shores to help the RP community get involved in the event. Students from this group are working on a district-wide fundraising initiative to raise money to be donated to the Northside Vets.

A more time sensitive opportunity has to do with the MASS CHOIR sign ups. All RP and Mona Shores community members are invited to be a part of the singing of the National Anthem and America the Beautiful prior to the start of the game. If someone would like to be a part of the choir they will receive a red Sailor Salute t-shirt and free entry into the game. Sign-up for the choir and t-shirts has to be done by August 28th.  This is a great way for RP to show our support for our veterans, active duty military, and our first responders. If you are willing to be a part of the choir, or help pass this information on to other community members, we would be most appreciative.

Included in this email is a flyer for the event and the Mass Choir sign up.

There is also a quick video on the event last year.
