Health Insurance Available for Uninsured Students
There are more than 127,000 uninsured children in Michigan. Most of them are eligible right now for one of the state’s two health insurance plans for students: MIChild or Healthy Kids. A state-wide campaign has been launched to enroll as many uninsured children as possible in one of these plans. Enrolling a student is fast and simple, and the most any family will pay is $10.00 a month.
Enrollment can be done on the Internet or by telephone. On the Internet go to: www.enrollmichigan.com and click on the red button near the top of the page that reads: “Click here to Enroll Your Child in MI Child or Healthy Kids today.” Once you click, follow the instructions. By telephone, Dial: 2-1-1.
A student who gets health care in the right place at the right time is better prepared to learn and less likely to develop serious, costly medical conditions.

"Green Team" Needs Your Help
RPI is excited to have a recycling "Green Team" this year. Students on the Panther Team, under the direction of their teacher Mrs. Hazard, are recycling paper, magazines, and cardboard.
One Green Team goal is to recycle the lunchroom styrofoam trays. Students calculated that close to 100,00 trays are put into landfills every year, just from RPI! Students and staff are trying to do their part, by recycling those trays... parents - this is where we need your help. If you are available between 11:15-12:15 during the lunch period to assist our team, we would appreciate your help. The trays need to be rinsed before they can be sent to be recycled. The Green Team does most of the work, but there are many trays each day that need to be cleaned.
If you can help, please contact the RPI Office, Mr. Andrews or Mrs. Hazard. Any parent will need to do a background check.
Please help support our Green Team and all of our students, as they work to help keep our environment clean and green.
About Reeths-Puffer Intermediate School
Our building has approximately 595 students in grades five and six. The average core class size is between 29-30 students.
Our fine arts program is outstanding. Over 250 students are in both band and choir. Students begin with instrumental music in fifth grade. They receive instruction in like instrument groups. Our choir and theater department performs two concerts each year with the final performance based on the second semester theater class that students may participate in. The visual arts department produces outstanding art work that is displayed each year at the Muskegon Museum of Art.
Our Service Learning Project, the Peace Garden, is a point of pride in our school. Students and staff care for this area with students performing math and science problems with the measuring and planting of flowers and other material. The garden also serves as a memorial for students and staff who have passed away. Our students actively participate in many community service projects including a food drive, assistance to the Rescue Mission, donating money and time to other local organizations.
Our students are placed in "teams" of two core
teachers. Each team has its own name and identity. This
gives students a feel for teamwork so they can associate with
their individual team and classmates.
