McMillan Elementary is a Preschool through 4th grade building with 300 students, located in a rural setting.  We constantly strive to help all students succeed, both in the classroom and the greater world. 

Our school community consists of families, staff, volunteers, and students.  We share the responsibility of helping all students become successful learners.  McMillan welcomes volunteers, and there are many ways to become involved including: parent/teacher conferences, PTO activities and fundraisers, volunteering in the classroom or field trips, attending family night activities, and volunteering as an Adopt-a-Reader. 

Mighty McMillan School Improvement Goals

Every Fall, after reviewing data from the previous year, our staff comes together to determine our School Improvement Goals for the year.   We have identifed three specific areas and have created S.M.A.R.T. goals.  Our goal for reading is to continue to see growth in the area of reading comprehension.  This includes having our children make connections to the text that they are reading, as well as being able to make inferences, or predictions based on what they have read.  In writing, we are working hard to help our students share details and examples and stay focued on the topic of writing.  In math, our students need a strong foundation in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Subway Fundraiser Supports Interactive Math Program

I know that school fundraisers can be a drag; however, our Subway coupon book fundraiser has helped pay for an interactive math program that our students can use at home and throughout next summer.  The program is called IXL and can be accessed through the website www.ixl.com.  The program is aligned with our state math content standards and offers an opportunity for practice and moving students forward.  Parents, check it out!  Have your children show you how to use the program.  It's learning math in disguise!  We will be selling Subway coupon books throughout the school year to support other educational programs.
