The Board of Education has formally adopted the policies and procedures reflected in this Student Handbook. The rules and policies of R-PHS apply to any student who is on or about school property, on or awaiting school-affiliated transportation, who is in attendance at school during regularly scheduled school hours or at any school-sponsored activity, or function, or whose conduct at any time or place directly interferes with the operations, discipline, or general welfare of the school, regardless of location, date, or time. Disciplinary action may be taken by the school, in conjunction with or regardless of whether criminal charges result. In addition, any violation of state or local law may be reported promptly to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. It is the intent of Reeths-Puffer High School to develop an understanding and appreciation of our representative form of government, and the rights and responsibilities whereby necessary changes are brought about. The school is a community and the rules and regulations of the school are the laws of that community. All those enjoying the rights of citizenship must also accept responsibility to respect the laws of the community. It is the responsibility of the administration to design rules, clarify regulations and due process procedures, and take necessary discipline procedures to protect all members of the school community in this common search of educational goals. It is the goal of the administration to use all acceptable effective means available to accomplish this mission. |
