ANIMALS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
McMillan Elementary had another spectacular Reading Month kickoff. This year's theme is “Catch the Reading Bug”. Mr. Larry Gueger visited McMillan Elementary with some very creepy and crawly critters from exotic locations around the world to motivate children to explore reading. His unique presentation thoroughly inspired and captivated all students. The message was simple; reading is the foundation for success and opens the window of opportunity for students to explore animals they never knew existed. Some of the exotic creatures include three inch cockroaches from Madagascar; a twelve inch millipede, a tree frog, and a three foot long salamander from the Rain Forest of South America. He also had ferrets, lizards, and several other animals not native to Michigan. Mr. Grueger provided some interesting facts and allowed students the opportunity to come in direct contact with these awesome animals from around the world.
