Second Graders Visit Heritage Farms

Students in second grade at Central Elementary had the opportunity to visit Heritage Farms in Hesperia on Tuesday, October 13th.  It was a brisk autumn day with sunny skies.  Students toured the farm and learned about growing corn as they got lost in the corn maze; they learned about the many different types of apples that are grown in Michigan; they learned many interesting facts about Buffalo and Elk as they made their way through the fields on the hay ride; they learned how to make apple cider and were able to see the cider press in operation.  Students were also able to reinforce their learning about the growth of a pumpkin as they trudged through the pumpkin patch.  Students even had the opportunity to watch bees make honey in their hive!  It was a great adventure and the students thoroughly enjoyed their time learning; but I truly believe their favorite moment of the day was enjoying those delicious donuts and fresh apple cider!
