Student Pick-up/Drop-off Procedures

 

Due to potential safety issues both to students and drivers, we have decided to reroute the traffic and change parking at Central Elementary.  These changes will begin Monday, January 8.

 

These changes (which are on the map on the back) are as follows:

 

  • The front drive will be closed to all vehicles except busses from 8:00-9:00 AM and from 3:00-4:00 PM.
  • Parents picking up their children may use the 30 minute parking spots from 9:00-3:00.
  • The sidewalk on the west side of the building will be used for student drop off and pick up.  There is to be no parking there.  You may sit and wait for your child along this sidewalk.
  • There is no parking on the grassy area between the entrance and exit off Giles Rd.
  • Parents and visitors may park in the designated parking areas to the west and east of the building.
  • Staff parking will be in the designated parking areas to the west and east of the building.
  • In the morning students will exit their bus at 8:40 and proceed directly to their locker.  Students eating breakfast may exit the bus at 8:30 or when the bus arrives.
  • Dropped off students may enter the building at 8:40
  • Students leaving in the afternoon will use the doors as marked on the map.

 

By instituting these changes we hope to relieve traffic backups on Giles Rd. and to make a safer environment for everyone entering and leaving school.
